| Accountability and Information Services Division |

The Accountability and Information Services division consists of the Assistant Superintendent, Deputy Director and a secretary. | Learning Services |

This program works closely with the State Superintendent of Public Instruction to provide leadership at the state and department levels in meeting the needs of and requirements for education in New Mexico. This includes overseeing the efficient and effective management of the units within the Learning Services: Alternative Education; Bilingual/Multilingual Education; Curriculum & Instruction; Indian Education; Instructional Materials; Even Start Family Literacy; and Special Education. | Instructional Support Services |

The Instructional Support Services Division includes programs funded under the Improving America's Schools Act (IASA); Title I, Title II, Title IV, and Title VI. It also includes the School Health, Student Nutrition, and Goals 2000 units. The Division will focus on the use of staff and financial resource to increase student performance, particularly in schools with identified needs for improvement. | CTAS-Career (Vocational) Technical, and Adult Services |

The Career (Vocational) Technical, and Adult Services has responsibility for occupational and adult education in New Mexico. It is a state and federally-funded program. Staff responsibilities fall into two major categories: compliance and technical assistance. Technical Assistance includes sponsoring seven Vocational Technical Student organizations; working with teachers/educators, industry, other state agencies, and professional groups; developing and presenting to teachers pertinent workshops; sponsoring various conferences (i.e., P.R. Conferences, summer conferences, Technical Education-T&I conference, student organization conferences, etc.); and making presentations and assisting districts with program development and/or redirection, upon request . Compliance includes the evaluation of one third of the state's public school districts per year; evaluation of one third of the state's two-year post secondary vocational technical programs; evaluation of one third of the State's Adult Basic Education sites; conducting civil rights compliance reviews; monitoring federally-funded projects; and reviewing certification requests and validating work experience.
