There are no state laws or rules permitting student representatives to serve on public school boards of education. Moreover, students under age 18 cannot run for any elected offices such as school boards due to their minority. There are, however, districts that have student liaisons who serve as ex-officio members. Allowing this is solely at the discretion of the local school board.
