Mission & Vision

The NMPED Indian Education Division works to ensure the New Mexico Indian Education Act is implemented in New Mexico public schools by;

Providing technical assistance to schools, school districts and public charter schools with Native American student enrollment.
Ensuring the collaboration of various entities such as NM tribes and pueblos, community-parent, business, LEA and SEA leaders and legislative policy makers to participate in initiatives and discussions that promote the educational success of NM Indian children.

There are two Bureaus in New Mexico. The Northwest Bureau located in Gallup and the Santa Fe Bureau located near downtown Santa Fe.
