2008 Blue Ribbon Schools

US Department of Education Secretary Spellings announced the 2008 No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon Schools on September 9. The ceremony was held in Washington, DC on October 20-21.

Governor Bill Richardson Unveils Navajo Language Textbook in Gallup, Farmington

SANTA FE – Governor Bill Richardson traveled to Gallup High School and Farmington High
School today to talk with students and Navajo leaders about the first Navajo textbook, Dine
Bizaad Binahoo’aah (Rediscovering the Navajo Language). This is the first time that a text
written by a Navajo author has been adopted as a textbook for teaching the Navajo language.

New Mexico Adopts Navajo Language Textbook

The textbook is Dine Bizaad Binahoo’aah (Rediscovering the Navajo Language), written by Dr. Evangeline Parsons Yazzie, Professor of Navajo at Northern Arizona University, and Dr. Margaret Speas, Professor of Linguistics at University of Massachusetts.
